On Thursday, October 23, a Bridgeport father was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) outside his home near Robert Healy Elementary School. According to witnesses, agents did not present a warrant before detaining him. The man was moved from the Broadview Processing Center in Illinois to a detention center in Michigan.

Community leaders and elected officials convened a press conference addressing the need for accountability and reform in immigration enforcement. CASL CEO Paul Luu joined the speakers to highlight how ICE actions are affecting immigrant families in Chicago’s Chinese American and AANHPI community, citing this case as an example.

“No family should ever experience this fear and confusion at the front of their own door. Due process must be followed under the law,” CASL CEO Paul Luu said.
